SUBJECT: IAEA: GICNT JOINT DEMARCHE ON PROPOSED AGENDA FOR 2009
PLENARY MEETING DELIVERED
REF: STATE 35549
1. This is an action request for ISN/WMDT. Please see para 4.
2. In a joint approach with Russian and Dutch colleagues, Mission
delivered points as requested per REFTEL to IAEA Office of Nuclear
Security Director, Anita Nilsson, encouraging her participation in
the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT)
ministerial. Nilsson accepted the invitation and is willing to give
a 10-minute presentation at the 2009 Plenary Meeting (June 16,
afternoon "Speaker TBD") on the IAEA's efforts that specifically
advance the GICNT Statement of Principles. She will also
participate in the Equipment/Technology Working Group (June 17).
3. Nilsson proposes to reflect in her presentation suggestions for
a more established IAEA role in the GICNT. Nilsson also requested
the agenda and subject details for the Equipment/Technology Working
Group so that she can ensure the appropriate IAEA subject matter
expert attends the meeting with her, if necessary.
4. Post requests guidance for responding to Anita Nilsson's
requests in para 3.

This website hosts an archive of all 251,287 US Embassy diplomatic cables that were released by WikiLeaks between November 28, 2010 and September 2, 2011.
While the cables are generally available at
http://wikileaks.org/cablegate.html, we find it hard to search or even navigate the site to read the cables.
We have made all 251,287 cables available here at Dazzlepod with the hope to make it easier for readers to browse, search, share and discuss about the released cables.
The cables are periodically selected and posted to our
Twitter page and
Facebook page for readers to review them.
